Hello, I am Bob Partridge and thank you for visiting the web site for Leatherstocking Guide Service. We are located in Central New York State in the small town of Milford which is on the Susquehanna River just south of Cooperstown. The Catskills are to our south and the Adirondacks to the north. Cooperstown, where the baseball Hall of Fame is located, is just nine miles away. The landscape here is rolling hills, farmland, woodlots and state forests. We've got lots of deer, big flocks of wild turkeys and fantastic small game hunting. We also offer waterfowl hunts and we even do ice fishing in the winter. Milford is a quiet and peaceful rural area and if hunting, fishing and just being in the outdoors are to your liking, then this is your spot!

| WELCOME TO LEATHERSTOCKING GUIDE SERVICE: January 2012 update
*** Please stop by and visit us at the Yankee Classic in Burlington, VT, the Springfield, MA Sportsman Show or the big show at Harrisburg. 2011 was another great year for us and we took over 40 deer and some great turkeys. The winter of 2010-2011 was severe in the northeast and we did suffer some winter losses as did most areas up this way, but despite that our annual deer kill was within the normal range. Most hunters see deer during their hunt with us and many have an opportunity to take a buck or doe. The late muzzleloader season also produced with over 10 deer taken during the eight day hunt. ***New for 2012! This year we will be offering semi-guided spring wild turkey hunts. Blinds are set in locations we know gobblers frequent and you will have that area and blind to yourself. We will walk you in the first day so you are comfortable with the area and we'll have decoys set. After that you are on your own. Hunters who remain in these blinds until noon will have an excellent chance of having a gobbler appear at almost anytime. These blinds are also a real fun way to observe the woods and wildlife and an excellent way to introduce a young hunter to the sport. *** Guide Gratuities: Because many hunters ask me what they should tip our guides I can tell you that the average is around 20% of the cost of the hunt for deer hunts and often more for turkey hunts where the level of personal service is greater based on the type of hunt. Our guides work hard for you when you are here and before you arrive. The guides scout for prime locations, set up our many tree stands, help get you to and from your designated spot each day etc. and we hope you show your appreciation of their efforts. *** Tree Stand Safety: Most of our stand locations are set with ladder or hang-on tree stands and you are also welcome welcome to bring your own stand. A climbing stand can be very helpful especially for archery seasons. We do require that you bring with you and always use a safety harness whenever you hunt from an elevated stand. *** Information on our hunts can be found by using the links below or call Bob at (607) 434-2420 for complete information. If you send me an e-mail please put something like "deer hunting info wanted" in the subject line so I don't miss your message among all the SPAM. Phone calls are a more sure bet these days. Good luck this year.... Thank you. |
